I regularly get asked when can we run a workshop in a particular city or town, somewhere close by that would make it easier to travel.
I love hearing about all the places in Australia I’ve been invited to visit. And thank you for inviting me.
While there are some workshops we run beautifully and can be run in various locations, one of the major consideration when VetPrac puts on a workshop is how the location contributes to your learning experience.
Ethical acquisition of teaching materials can limit our choices. And it does make running a workshop more expensive. The pay off though is you know that you are learning with a group that operates to the standards of Australian Ethics, which is actually very high.
The trade off, unfortunately is you have to jump on a plane, visit a place away from home, and learn in isolation of everything you are used to.
But the good thing about that is that its better for your learning experience. How is that possible?
When we change our environment we trigger our brains to be more active. When we remove distraction, we focus our brains on the task at hand. And when we use our hands, we teach our nerves to make connections and build memory. When you do all this together, you get a more solid learning experience with fewer misaligned interconnections between neurons.
This means, in the unlikely situation where you don’t have a chance to use your new skills and knowledge, then it will sit in your memory banks in a more pure form, than if you had been learning while distracted.
And when you come to a VetPrac Workshop we take care of you, so your trek from across the region to our workshop is worth it. Good food, lovely company and great education sends you home feeling ready to take on the world.
If you’d like us to run a workshop near you and you have 20-30 colleagues and staff in mind, please be in touch. Somethings can come to you… For everything else, we encourage you to make the journey to us. It’s worth it.
If you have any questions regarding any of our workshops feel free to sign up for a complimentary Discovery Session – so we can have a chat around your goals, and which workshop is right for you.
